Reimbursement claims – contract cleaning and security

From 1 July 2025, contract cleaning and security employers must attach a Leave nomination form(opens in a new window) when submitting a claim for reimbursement.

Each worker must complete a Leave nomination form to nominate the type of long service leave they intend to take, and the intended leave period. Workers in these industries may be eligible to claim long service leave benefits under:

  • the traditional long service leave under the Long Service Leave Act 2018;
  • the Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme; or
  • a corresponding scheme in another State or Territory.

As a result of this, workers must select the benefit they intend to claim under and specify the intended leave period.

Employers may submit a claim for reimbursement after they have paid the worker for the long service leave taken.

The Authority will verify the nominated leave period against the worker’s recognised service and adjust accordingly.

Claims for reimbursement cannot be processed without a corresponding Leave nomination form filled in by the worker.

The Authority recommends adding the Leave nomination form to your long service leave approval process. This will ensure you have the form ready to submit with your claim for reimbursement.
